"B" Free

FYI: In our house, a pacifier is called a 'b'.

When C&H were 18 months old, we took their 'b' away except for naptime and nightime. It was such a good way for them to self-soothe themselves when they woke up in the middle of the night, but I was sick of them having it in their mouths 24/7. Anytime we mentioned going 'night-night', they would both run to their cribs for their 'b' and blankies, and they knew when it was time to get up, they had to say 'bye-bye' to their 'b' and they would drop them in their crib until the next bedtime! For the past year, this has worked out great, but I knew the time was coming to say 'bye-bye' to them for good! With their 2 1/2 {birthday} coming up and with their recent dental visit where we learned they were affecting their teeth, I knew it had to be soon. I think it may have started to affect Hadley's speech as well. I haven't posted about this all week because I wasn't sure how this transition would turn out and whether or not we would give in, but I am proud to say today marks 1 WEEK that our house has been 'b' FREE!!! I won't lie...it's been rough and we have gotten alot less sleep, but everyday it's getting better. On the first few days, they screamed and begged for their 'b', but now they may ask for them once a day! I am so proud of my 'big kids'!

Honestly, I am really gonna miss those 'b's. There is nothing sweeter than a sleeping baby sucking a 'b'. Here are some of my favorite 'b' pictures of C&H over the past few years!

Say What? Wednesday

  • One night this week, we were getting ready for bed and Hadley started brushing my hair. After a little while, she said, "Mommy, I'm Katie and I cut your hair". Katie is a friend of mine who cuts Cooper's hair and Miss Hadley talks about Miss Katie all the time!
  • C&H really started pretending and I have really been seeing their imaginations growing daily. They are always pretending to go bye-bye. Cooper usually pushing a baby or trucks in a stroller and Hadley usually has a baby and her purse in her arms. They will come and find Michael and I and say, "Bye Daddy...Bye Mommy". We always ask them where they are going and tell them bye and "I love you". They usually say they are going to school, or Nana and Daddo's house, or MeMe and Sweet Pa's house. The other night, however, Hadley told us her baby was sick and they were going to Dr. Fred's (our pediatrician) house. I guess they think his office is his house! :)
  • The other morning while Cooper was still asleep Hadley asked for bacon for breakfast, so I got up and got it started so that it would be ready for C when he woke up! All I had on was a t-shirt while I was cooking breakfast. H, who had been laying in bed with me watching Mickey Mouse, walked in the kitchen and said, "Mom, you need your pants on!"

Wordless Wednesday: "I did it Mama!"

Almost wordless...I asked Hadley to go get her panties on and she ran into the playroom and proudly said, "I did it Mama!" I love this girl!

Michael's Birthday Weekend!

We had a whole weekend celebration for Michael's birthday this year!

It started off Friday night, when Michael & I snuck away for a few hours to go out to eat! We stuffed ourselves with shrimp, crawfish, and crab legs until we were sick! Thanks Nana for coming over to watch the kiddos...we enjoyed our dinner!

Saturday, my family and our friend Matt came over to celebrate at our house! We grilled hot dogs and hamburgers and then enjoyed a home-made blackberry cobbler for dessert per request from the birthday boy! The cobbler wasn't pretty, but sure tasted amazing! We had a great time!

The birthday boy with his babies...I think they thought we were singing to them!

Opening presents...I think this is the first time EVER that I have surprised Michael! With the help of Matt, we got him some screw-gun thing that he has been wanting! He was very happy!

BLASTOFF Song

If you have been around C&H for any amount of time, you have heard them sing the 'Blastoff' song from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse! They LOVE it and I am amazed they can count backwards from 10 to 1!!! Just thought I would share...H is so proud at the end of the song!!!

Flash Cards

We have a set of flash cards and C&H love to play with them. I keep them on a shelf in their room and everyday when I go into get them up, H usually asks to see the flash cards. I love their reactions on the 'letter I' and I love how C keeps saying, "what is it??"! They are growing up before my eyes!!!

A Slippin' and A Slidin'

I bought C&H a slip-n-slide a while back and decided to let them play in it yesterday afternoon. They were so excited when they woke up from their nap and had a surprise waiting for them outside! They didn't quite get the concept of it, so I spent most of the time pushing them and getting soaked. Their cousin Braxton stopped by and played for a little while...I was hoping after they saw him running and sliding, they would catch on, but no such luck! They had fun and that's all that matters!
