We are free!!!

Eye Appointment

A couple of months ago, we received an anonymous comment on our blog that really freaked me out. I guess I should just attribute it to being a new mom. The comment was about some pictures of Cooper where one of his pupils were white. The comment was talking about that being a sign of cancer of the eye. I was really upset at first that someone would leave a first time mom a comment like that & freak her out. But after the fact, I know that person wasn't trying to be mean, just putting their insight in to help. After researching it on the internet & looking through multiple pictures of the same thing, we decided to call the eye doctor. There was like a 3 month wait to get in, so we pulled a few strings. Michael's financial adviser's wife is our eye doctor so he called him, told him what was going on, & she got us in the next day. Needless to say, Michael & I both were very worried going in. She said from what we described that she thought it might have been a catarach since they were preemies. This was about 2 months ago that we went in the first time & she didn't see anything that she was worried about, but wanted to see him in two months when he could follow things with his eyes a little better so she could get a better look in the back of his eyes. Today was that appointment. She didn't see anything...she said he looked great & wanted to see him when he was about one year. She also had told us to bring Hadley in & she would look her over too since she was also a preemie, but she passed with flying colors too. Michael & I are so relieved & I guess just being overly protective first time parents, but she did say that this could be a sign of a catarach, cancer of the eye, & several other things, so I am glad we got them checked out & that is everything is fine...thank you God for two healthy babies!!!

Night #2 in our cribs

Wow...the babies did even better last night! They ate around 5:30 yesterday evening and then they went down about 7:30 because they were so tired. They slept until 10:00, ate again, & then we didn't hear a peep out of them until 3:30. We fed them again and they slept until around 8:00 this morning! I am so proud of them...they obviously sleep better in their own cribs!!!

Our Booties!

My Mom knitted these booties for the babies before they were born and they finally fit! They looked so cute on Cooper & Hadley today!! Thanks Nana!!!

A little squished...

I think the babies are getting a little too big to be sharing a bouncy seat anymore! The other day I put them together so that I could do something really quick & I totally cracked up when I came back and saw this! Is that not too cute???

Night #1 in our cribs

Well, we all survived and the babies did great! Hadley ever made a peep all night, was woke up from a dead sleep for both feedings when her brother was demanding to eat, & woke up at 8:30 this morning in the best mood ever! The paci was never an issue with her...she slept pretty much all night without it! I pulled out the sleep positioners last night...I thought they might feel more secure in their big cribs since they were used to sharing the Pack-n-Play or sleeping in the bouncy seats! They worked wonderfully!
They ate about 8:30 last night & went down around 9:00. From 10-12:30, Cooper was pretty fussy & I was in their nursery probably every 10-15 minutes. I decided to sleep in the guest bedroom which is right next to the nursery, so it wasn't too bad! I fed again at 12:30 and from 1-4 he & I slept great! After that, he was hungry again so he wanted his paci, and continued to suck hard & spit it out until about 4:45 when I fed them again. After that, he slept well until about 9:00. Not bad for our first night, eh??? I am pretty happy about it! I thought it would be alot harder than it was! I just pray it continues to get better not worse!!!

Our Strong Girl

For a while now Hadley has been able to stand up on her own. Of course, she can't balance but she will hold on to our fingers & she will stiffen up & hold her entire body up...it's crazy!! Here she is this morning on the couch before her bath standing & squating!! I could just eat her up!!

I could just eat this sweet chubby thing up too....

Thank you!

Thank you for your encouraging words on our upcoming transition from the Pack-n-Play to the crib and on the paci worries! I really enjoyed reading everyone's stories & views on our situation. We haven't tried putting them in their cribs just yet because of their colds. As soon as they are sounding better, we are taking the plunge!!! They are still sleeping in their bouncy seats which is still going great with their congestion. Cooper is sounding better, but still snotty when we lay him down. Hadley is still very congested but got this cold a couple of days after Cooper, so hopefully we will see some improvement in the next day or so!! Be watching for updates on our transition soon!!!

My sister's family & my sister-in-law & niece have been at Devil's Den for a couple of days for Spring Break. My parents, the twins, & I went up for the day today and had such a great time! I love that place...it is gorgeous! I will have to get the pics from my sister when she gets home to share with you guys!!

A Great Night of Sleep

After very short naps yesterday, both babies were extremely tired & cranky yesterday! We had a comment on our blog yesterday from the Sharum's and we decided to let them sleep in their bouncy seats so that they would stay elevated. Wow, what a difference that made! They were asleep at 8:00 pm and slept until 9:00 am with two feedings in between...much better than the previous night!! We are about to attempt to move them to their own cribs at night and I am really dreading it! Since birth they have slept next to our bed in a Pack-n-Play, but this past week or so have really been waking each other up. The paci issue is what is the big problem. When they are next to the bed, I can just reach over & stick it back in their mouths, but in their own room it is going to be a whole new story! It is Cooper mainly, but he sucks that thing so hard that it pops out of his mouth all the time. For the first hour or so after we put him down, everytime that paci pops out of his mouth he crys. Once he gets to sleep, he either doesn't suck so hard or is okay with it not in his mouth. I try not to give it to him when I put him down to avoid the issue, but he usually fusses for it shortly after lying down. If anyone would like to share stories or advice about transitioning your baby or babies to their crib or issues with their pacis, please share! I could use any advice you would like to give!!!
