Sad Day

Yesterday was a very sad day for our family. We lost one of our dogs to the extreme heat & one of our other dogs is still at the vets office & we aren't sure if he is going to make it. Drake was Michael & I's first dog together. He was such a sweet dog that we loved very much. Some of you that don't have pets may think I am crazy, but losing a pet you have had for years is heart wrenching. This is the second dog we have lost in 3 years, and it is so hard. When Michael came home yesterday, Rudy was walking around but he noticed Drake wouldn't get up. Drake was barely breathing and wouldn't move. By the time, he got the truck to the barn, he was gone & he noticed Rudy wasn't acting right either. He had laid down & wasn't moving either. He threw Rudy in the truck & rushed to the vet. They said most dogs don't make it if their temperature is above 106...his was 108. He is fighting so hard....please pray for him & our family. This has been really tough on Michael & I...and please pray for a full recovery!

Here are a few pictures of our Sweet Drake over the years!
RIP Drake

We love you!

I am so sorry for your loose and only hope your other puppy makes it home to you!

Loosing a pet is like loosing a human!

The heat in Minnesota has been crazy as well! 95 degree or more with the heat index the last few days!

I am SO sorry for your loss. I can understand your sadness entirely, we lost our dog at the age of 11 this past Spring and she was our baby. I am praying that you have peace and comfort. Drake and Molly (our dog) are probably have a good time chasing cats and eating table food in doggy heaven. :)

Okay, this made me cry. I'm going to make sure we keep a close eye on Diesel. Arkansas summers are so hot. Praying Rudy makes a full recovery.

((hugs))

I don't think you are crazy. Pets are family and they provide so much unconditional love that it's understandable if you are heartbroken. I am very sorry and I hope that Rudy is ok.

MK,the boys are so sad Drake is gone. I'm not sure Garrett really understands..."Why are his eyes still open?" (in the photos). They were mostly concerned that Charlie is still okay. My boys are so afraid of most dogs, but not yours. It's terrible! "Sorry" doesn't carry the meaning of how sorry I know we all are, but it seems the only thing to say.

Sorry to hear about Drake. I remember when he was a puppy and we were still in College. He will be missed.

Oh...I completely understand your sadness. Pets become a part of the family. It's so tough to lose one.

We had to put our Chocolate Lab down awhile back....it was a very tough time to get through. And...now we're thinking of getting a new dog...but...it's hard...and we're just not sure if it's the right thing to do.

Thinking of you!

Oh, you're not crazy in the least. We are pet owners and recently lost our beloved Chihuahua, Ginger this past May. She was 11 years old and her "bubba" Gateway (our Rat Terrier, dearly misses her as well. They grew up together so it's sad. It is so hard because they are your family and they'll be missed dearly. Im so sorry for your losses. =(
